Welcome to

Dating for Marriage

The shortest path from stranger to fiancé.

How it works

Three simple steps.

  1. Write your dating resume

Three photos and three prompt responses about who you are and the future you want. No “two truths and a lie.”

  2. Discover and connect

Discover people who fit and send a connection request. No secret algorithm.

  3. Hop on a video call

Both accept, schedule a video call, and see if there's a spark. No surface-level texting.

Why we exist

We exist to help you find your fiancé.

It's not that the big apps are bad — they're built for a different mission. Their goal is engagement — time spent on the app . They optimize for swiping, matching, and endless chatting — the things that keep you scrolling, not the things that get you married.

1YR is built for the other engagement — a ring and a commitment . That one goal changed every decision, so we built the app differently: no swiping, no endless feed, just three steps — create a dating resume, discover and connect, hop on a video call. Same word, opposite mission.

If your goal is to actually find your person, we're the right app for you.

Our story

Why we built this.

I grew up in a traditional Jewish home, where dating had a sense of purpose. People were looking for a partner, building a life together, and everyone understood the goal.

When I stepped into the broader dating world, that clarity seemed to disappear. People wanted connection and companionship, but commitment had become almost taboo. The ambiguity kept everyone guessing — and often kept them stuck. Endless swiping, situationships, and years spent wondering where things were going became the norm.

I built 1YR to bring intention back to dating. Not because everyone should date the same way, but because people who want a real relationship deserve a better way to find one.

Guidelines

Date like a mensch.

Mensch — a stand-up person.

    Compatibilityon paper

Values, faith, kids — the things that don't change. Filter on them first.

  2. 02
    Chemistryin real life

A 15-minute call tells you what weeks of texting can't: is there a spark?

When it's going somewhere, name it. Date exclusively instead of staying undefined.
